Rank Math is a WordPress SEO plugin that combines on-page optimization, XML sitemaps, structured data, redirects, 404 monitoring, search integrations, and a growing set of AI-oriented tools. Its free version is distributed through WordPress.org, while paid PRO, Business and Agency tiers expand rank tracking, advanced Schema, reporting and multi-site licensing.
When we fact-checked the plugin on September 25, 2026, WordPress.org listed Rank Math SEO version 1.0.279, updated September 22, 2026, with 4+ million active installations. The listing required WordPress 6.7 or newer, reported testing through WordPress 7.1.2, and required PHP 7.4 or newer.

On-page SEO controls
At its core, Rank Math provides the standard controls expected from a WordPress SEO plugin: SEO titles, meta descriptions, focus keywords, robots directives, social metadata, primary categories and content analysis. These tools live close to the post or page editing workflow rather than forcing a separate SEO dashboard for every change.
For ProxVela, the important point is not that an SEO score exists; it is that the plugin centralizes the fields and technical outputs that need to stay consistent across many articles. We treat optimization scores as prompts, not ranking guarantees. A green score cannot substitute for search intent, useful writing, original evidence, crawlability or authority.
Schema and structured data

XML sitemaps

404 Monitor and Redirections
Rank Math’s 404 Monitor and Redirections modules are among the features we found most practical for an editorial site. The official product documentation describes simple and advanced 404 monitoring plus a redirection manager supporting common redirect types. ProxVela enabled both modules during site setup.
The benefit is operational: when URLs change, one plugin can help identify repeated missing-page requests and create redirects where a replacement destination genuinely exists. We do not recommend redirecting every 404 to the homepage. A redirect should preserve user intent, not merely eliminate an error code.
Breadcrumbs, attachment redirects and URL cleanup
ProxVela also configured Rank Math’s breadcrumb support, attachment redirects, and the option to remove the WordPress category base. These are smaller settings than Schema or sitemaps, but they matter because they affect navigation and URL behavior across the site.
This is where Rank Math’s breadth becomes both a strength and a drawback. A publisher can handle many technical SEO chores in one place, but a first-time WordPress owner can easily face dozens of decisions before understanding which toggles are actually relevant.
Image SEO helpers and external-link rules
During setup, ProxVela enabled Rank Math’s options to add missing image ALT/TITLE information and configured external-link behavior. These tools can reduce repetitive editorial work, but automation still needs review. Alt text should describe the actual image for users and accessibility; it should not become a keyword-filling mechanism.
Analytics, AI Visibility and MCP tools
Rank Math’s current product has expanded beyond traditional WordPress metadata. The September 22, 2026 free-plugin changelog added Gemini tracking and refresh controls to AI Visibility, plus MCP tools that can expose 404-log and sitemap-status information to compatible AI assistants. The pricing page also states annual renewal totals of €107.88 for PRO, €335.88 for Business and €779.88 for Agency, before applicable taxes. The distinction between personal and client websites matters: Rank Math says PRO is for websites you own, while client-site use belongs on Business or Agency licensing.
Rank Math AI is separate
Rank Math’s AI layer has its own Starter, Creator and Expert plans. When checked on September 25, 2026, the AI pricing page showed promotional annual-billing equivalents of €5.99, €10.99 and €16.99 per month respectively, excluding VAT. The page also states that AI functions are governed by plan-specific monthly usage and a Fair Usage Policy.
This is a meaningful buying detail. Rank Math PRO can include a trial of an AI plan, but that is not the same as permanently bundling unlimited Content AI. Users interested primarily in AI-generated metadata, long-form generation, image alt text, AI Visibility or link suggestions should evaluate the separate AI allowances before paying.
Affiliate program availability
Rank Math currently operates a public affiliate program. Its official affiliate page advertises 30% commission, a 60-day attribution window, and a $200 minimum payout threshold. The affiliate terms also explain that commissions are subject to refund status and program rules.

Who is Rank Math best for?
Rank Math makes the most sense for WordPress publishers who actually want multiple technical SEO jobs inside one plugin.
